Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, he built this way of seeing through a constant thirst for open spaces — crossing Chile, circling Lake Baikal on the ice — and through immersion in worlds both distant and contrasting: alongside French and British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, bringing an artistic and human eye to the reality of conflict; or in movement, during a year-long residency with the dancers of the Paris Opera. Territories worlds apart, one same quest: a language able to conjure drama where nothing moves, just as readily as in the motion of the world.
A committed colorist, he deploys a bold palette where softness and sharpness answer each other — subtle pinks, deep ultramarine blues, vivid turquoises.
