It begins with immersion — on foot, by sailboat, or on the back of a motorcycle, in search of a landscape that speaks to me before I ever paint it. Then comes a quieter time, where I let the experience settle and my memory keep only what matters. Only then, in the stillness of the studio, do I meet the canvas again — which becomes, in turn, a partner in the conversation, capable of surprising me and deciding, alongside me, what the painting becomes.
